Garnet name comes from the word Granatum meaning pomegranate due to its resemblance to the pomegranate seeds. It can be found in igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks throughout the world and can be of various grades. Each member of this family has different properties and chemical compositions.

This semi-precious gemstone is most popular with its lovely deep red color with a variety of silicate minerals. While the red color is symbolic of this gemstone, it is also available in green, orange, pinkish orange, deep reddish purple and some shades of blue. Since Bronze age, they used it as a sacred stone for talisman, amulets and in all ornamental forms today. All the forms of this gemstone have a common crystal structure and consists of varieties as rhodolite, spessartite, pyrope, andradite, uvarovite, grossular and almandine. 

Garnet being related to root chakra, detoxifies the blood and keeps the heart healthy. It's an excellent color stone to regulate blood circulation in the body and also cures blood deficiency and related diseases. It induces passion, fire, energy, stability and health.
